Blue Energy stands for winning energy from the difference in salt concentration of salt and fresh water. In Breezanddijk, in the Dutch Wadden Sea, a trial plant is being used to get acquainted with this new way of generating energy. This test plant of REDstack BV uses water from the Wadden Sea and the IJsselmeer.
At the beginning of 2016, the 'Blue Energy Environmental Impact Effects' was launched, which explores the effects of technology on organisms coming into the system. Furthermore, it examines the effects of these organisms on the operation of the Blue Energy system, and aims to improved and scale up this technology.
