Accessibility statement

At NIOZ, we consider digital accessibility to be a fundamental requirement. We believe that everyone should be able to access, use and understand our website, regardless of any disability or assistive technology used.

For this reason, accessibility is embedded in the design, development and maintenance of our website. We aim to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). New content and functionality are developed in line with the WCAG 2.2 Level AA guidelines.

Known accessibility issues

We regularly review our website to identify and address potential accessibility issues. The developers, designers and content editors involved in this platform also receive ongoing training in usability and digital accessibility.

Despite these efforts, we are aware of a number of accessibility issues, including:

  • Some of our videos are not yet captioned and do not currently include SRT files.
  • Some images are missing Dutch alternative text. This is due to the migration from our previous website to the current platform.
  • We are actively working to add captions to videos and to provide missing alternative text. These improvements will be implemented progressively over time.

We are actively working to resolve these issues.
