We are very pleased to announce returning to Schiermonnikoog and look forward to a workshop with interactive elements and field visits. The workshop is organized by a combined committee from the department of Coastal Systems at the Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) and the Conservation Ecology Group at the University of Groningen (RUG).

As every year, this workshop is especially intended for early career and PhD researchers that work on topics related to coastal ecology. However, senior researchers are also welcome to share their knowledge and experience. During this workshop, there will be ample time to present and discuss results and research plans. Furthermore, following the trend from previous editions, we are planning interactive elements to facilitate discussion and future collaborations. We will also have an excursion to field sites and learn about the landscape forming processes that build Schiermonnikoog and other barrier islands.

Registration and fees

We encourage attendees to submit an abstract for a poster or oral presentation. Registration will be opened at the end of August and close on September 24th 2022. A reminder with final registration details and payment information will be shared through the general CEW mailing list or sign up here to receive direct information about CEW2022.

The accommodation is limited to 40 people and we will accept participants on a “first come, first serve” basis. We therefore advise you to timely send in their registration and abstracts.

The conference’s fee is estimated at 190€ and includes a boat ticket from the mainland (Lauwersoog ferry harbor), accommodation and food during the workshop. The exact final price will be communicated during the registration.
