On Friday afternoon, 31 July, the wastewater holding tank aboard RV Wim Wolff overflowed. The incident was brought under control, and the vessel is in Den Helder for a technical investigation. The extent of the damage and the repair timeline are still being assessed, and NIOZ is in contact with the relevant authorities.

Six people involved in containing and cleaning up the incident may have been exposed to contaminated water. The company doctor has confirmed that no preventive medical treatment is required following this type of exposure. We remain in close contact with those involved.
