Register now for the NIOZ Fleet Day on 14 March

invitation

On Saturday 14 March 2026, the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) is organising an Open Fleet Day in the NIOZ harbour at 't Horntje (Texel). This is a unique opportunity to board the brand-new 80-metre ocean-going vessel RV Anna Weber-van Bosse – christened on 12 March – and the Wadden Sea and coastal vessel RV Wim Wolff. The smallest vessel, RV Adriaen Coenen, can be viewed from the outside.

There will be a reception tent on the quay where scientists will talk about the research work on board. Author Andrea Kieskamp will give short lectures about her new biography of Anna Weber-van Bosse, the namesake of the largest ship. Photo panels will provide a bird's-eye view of the past and present of NIOZ, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.

Book a time slot

To give everyone the opportunity to view the ships and go on board, there are three time slots. We ask anyone interested to register in advance and reserve a time slot. Access to the NIOZ harbour and the research vessels is only possible with a valid ticket. For more information and to register, please visit nioz-openvlootdag.
