Fieldwork support
The department of NMF is responsible for technical and logistical support for coastal and marine research expeditions and installations. We take care of the maintenance, operation, transport of equipment, and the loading and unloading of the vessels.
Fieldwork support includes both land-based and sea-going support during the fieldwork. This includes work in coastal areas, shallow seas, and open ocean research expeditions. NMF technicians join research expeditions and fieldwork to set up and operate the instruments and equipment, making vital contributions to the success of the projects.
Aside from technical support on board and preparing equipment to be loaded, the department is also responsible for maintenance and repairs to all the equipment in the so-called national equipment pool. All the equipment listed on our Facilities-pages falls under this.
