Equipment development and innovation
We cooperate with scientists to design and build equipment specifically for their needs. This ranges from small digital bird trackers to large-scale mooring structures measuring water column properties.
From an idea or practical question to designing, developing, testing, and final production, the technical specialists within NMF work closely with researchers to make equipment and instruments that meet their specific scientific needs. Also, the necessary software to handle the instruments is developed and maintained in-house, as well as the large infrastructures needed to get or keep equipment at the required spot in the field or at sea.Â
Equipment is custom-built for scientists working at NIOZ as well as for external scientists with grants that give them access to the NMF facilities.Â
