Victoria Mason

I am currently working as a PhD on the Living Dikes project. My research focuses on the long term resilience of salt marshes under a changing climate, with a particular focus on what this means for their delivery of ecosystem services such as coastal protection and carbon storage. I work primarily with field, flume and mesocosm experiments to try to understand how salt marshes will respond when exposed to sea-level rise, extreme storms and droughts. I am also interested in marsh edge dynamics, working towards the prediction of cliff initiation at the marsh edge which can trigger marsh retreat and narrowing, as well as the testing of novel, biodiversity enhancing materials which can be used (where necessary) in marine restoration efforts.
