With proper agreements, the North Sea can harbour birds as well as fishing industry

In recent years, the fishing industry has collaborated with scientists to conduct research into the sustainable harvesting of a specific shellfish, Spisula subtruncata, from the North Sea. Bird conservationists also participated, in order to gain more knowledge about the common scoter, a sea duck that depends on these shellfish as a food source. This unique collaboration now offers suggestions for actions and management measures to the government in its search for space for both fishing and nature.
