A small metal jetty protrudes from a dyke into the water. On the jetty is a small cabin and several measurement set ups can be seen.

Jetty measurements

At the NIOZ Jetty, located at the border of the Wadden Sea and North Sea, we continuously measure water level, temperature, and salinity. We have been doing so since 1860, resulting in the longest running measurement series of sea water temperature. You can see the live daily measurements, or request acces to the full data set.

The NIOZ jetty is equipped with automated sensors, which measure water level, temperature and salinity on a daily basis. We use the statistic software R to visualize the actual measurement data.
