Oscar Franken

Head of Analytical Laboratory

As a community ecologist I am intrigued by the diversity of life on our planet, specifically in soil and sediment ecosystems. How all these species interact with each other to form functioning ecosystems is fascinating. The main focus of my research is to understand how interactions in these complex communities will be altered by abiotic and biotic changes and how this affects ecosystem functioning. For example, I am researching the effect of heatwaves on animals in the deeper parts of the Wadden Sea.
