Prof. Dr. Myron Peck
Head of Coastal Systems

I am a biological oceanographer and head of the Department of Coastal Systems. My research explores how changing environmental conditions impact the ecology of coastal and shelf sea ecosystems from key (ecological and commercial) species to communities. My group uses laboratory experiments and computer models to help understand how marine food webs respond to warming temperatures or changing acidity and oxygen levels. We test the potential effects of climate change on the food web. Our work helps understand ecological change and predict the winners and losers to provide much needed science-based advice to policymakers developing climate change adaptation policies.
