My passion as a behavioural ecologist comes from understanding the extent to which individual animals differ from one another and uncovering what consequences this has for populations in a rapidly changing world. Do we expect the highly flexible individuals to do better or is it the individuals with the strict daily routines that will still manage to find food? I am particularly interested in animal movement, investigating where, why and how animals move through their environment. I am a keen advocate for the development and maintenance of long-term field research and how they can be used to uncover the secrets of evolution within animal populations.
