I study the chemical transformation phosphorus undergoes as it is transported through the ocean. These transformations influence its bioavailability for phytoplankton, which are drivers of the global carbon cycle. When phosphorus is scarce, phytoplankton growth is limited, reducing carbon uptake in the ocean. My research focuses on interactions between calcium carbonate and phosphorus, investigated through fieldwork and laboratory experiments.
