Céline Martin

I am an organic geochemist investigating past continental climate variability using lake sediments. My research focuses on reconstructing past temperature changes to identify their drivers and improve our understanding of climate mechanisms, ultimately helping to better simulate future climate dynamics. I use lipid biomarkers to track past climatic parameters and contribute to the development of more reliable paleoclimate proxies. My current work within the IsoTalk project focuses on developing a new lacustrine alkenone-based paleothermometer in mid-latitude freshwater lakes, based on multidisciplinary monitoring of two Swiss lakes combining organic geochemistry, molecular biology, plankton ecology, and lake physics and chemistry.
