Virtual Reality

A new development in linking science and management of coastal ecosystems are the so-called 'digital twins'. With digital twins, model forecasts are integrated with modern visualisation systems to communicate scientific understanding, historic reconstructions and future predictions to managers, stakeholders, and the general public. At EDS, we develop pipelines that can translate model predictions of coastal and marine landscapes into insightful or lifelike depictions of the implications of management choices. Similarly, we can reveal how high-biodiversity, natural systems looked like before humans started to shape the landscape. Our computer-generated virtual reality provides a lifelike glimpse of what the past was like, or what the future will bring.
