I started my PhD at NIOZ in Yerseke at EDS in November. I'm part of the Estuarine & Delta Systems (EDS) department in Yerseke and the Coastal Systems (COS) department on Texel. I’m working together with Jan van Gils & Allert Bijleveld on Texel and with Johan van de Koppel in Yerseke (EDS). My research is about movement patterns of search strategies (e.g., Area Restricted Search, Levy-walk). The question is whether multi-scale movement patterns result from interactions with the environment or that they reflect active decisions. I will combine individual based models with experiments on animals (e.g., strand crabs, star fish, red knots).
