The Data Management Group (DMG) at NIOZ manages all data from the Marine and Coastal Research (ZKO) program. This NWO program focuses on the scientific analysis of five societal issues/problems related to a sustainable use of the marine environment and more specifically our coastal zone. These five societal challenges are security, economic yield, nature, spatial planning and development and water quality. The research within the ZKO program focuses on improving our understanding and knowledge on the development of the coastal zone.
The ZKO program consists of 4 sub-programs:
The ZKO data policy requires an open and timely exchange of data to advance science. To support this, DMG created a ZKO data portal, where an overview is presented and access to all projects and ZKO data is provided. The data are also available through the data access portal of the National Oceanographic Data Committee (NODC).
