Estimates of phytoplankton biomass (chlorophyll a) at high spatial resolution is obtained from automated spectral reflectance measurements, similar to remote sensing, but performed from our ship. Please click the image to zoom in.
Active fluorescence measurements performed with an automated Fast Repetition Rate fluorometer (FRRf) is used to estimate photosynthetic activity (Fv/Fm). Optimal values of Fv/Fm are around 0.6 and lower values indicate stress, caused by e.g. low temperature, herbicide toxicity or nutrient limitation. Please click the image to zoom in.
