After eating some tasty yapral sarma and a doner kebab in a busy place in the Asian side of Istanbul, I was ready to embark on an exciting trans-Med cruise aboard R/V Pelagia. This is Leg 3 that will take us to Lisbon crossing the Aegean, Adriatic, Ionian, Tyrrhenian and Alboran Sea and finally back to the open ocean.02/08/2013 13:27

Mediterranean Sea has fascinated traders, explorers, adventurers and philosophers from time immemorial and was the subject of the first underwater exploration by the ancient Greeks. It is still fascinates scientists today and is unique in many respects among the world oceans.
We zijn weer vertrokken voor een volgende GEOTRACES cruise. We varen nu terug in westelijke richting in het noorden van de Middellandse Zee. We vertrokken met enige spijt uit Istanboel, wat een prachtige stad is dat.
8 weken aan boord werken als steward, dat doe ik als vakantiewerk deze zomer. Na deze reis zit de helft van m’n periode aan boord van de RV Pelagia erop. Ik blijf aan boord tot we aankomen op Texel.21/07/2013 22:00

Het kwik gehalte loopt op in de Zwarte Zee...
In de avond van 13 juli verlieten we de haven van Instanboel. Omdat het al donker was, was het feestelijk in Istaboel want het is Ramadan en de mensen mochten eten. En die feestelijkheid uitte zich in prachtig verlichtte stad.

Before I left, this cruise was ringing in my head what you or your friends can imagine about a trip from the mouth of the Tagus River to the entrance of the Bosphorus: a stroll through the tranquil Mediterranean waters along lands where orange trees bloom.
