11 August we will arrive in Lisbon and the scientists on board and part of the crew will go home. As a last blog we want to show you some pictures of daily life and some highlights during our third Mediterranean-Black Sea GEOTRACES cruise.

We took a lot of samples from two ctd systems, here the special NIOZ made Ultra-Clean ctd, described and praised in many blogs, it was lowered to the bottom of the Mediterranean for the sampling of 18 stations.

Some of us spent, many, many hours in the Ultra Clean container under humid conditions with 585 liters of seawater.

Others spent hours hanging over board, not due to sea sickness but because dolphins were spotted in front of the ship.

Of course we will never forget swimming close to the island Stromboli with its smoking volcano
