Diary overview

Saturday, 3 January 2009

It was a nice bright sunny day for our geophysical survey. As per programme the seismic survey started in the morning and was completed by 3 pm. The scientists were busy with core description and sampling. No coring was done in the day time because our geophysical gear were in action. However, in the evening one gravity core was taken from the centre of the Indus canyon. We had delicious Indonesian food at lunch time.

The science party seemed excited and were all counting days to complete the survey and the planned coring tasks. The ship's crew was given a chance to recover the lost piston corer and anchors, and fortunately they were able to recover the lost anchors if not the corer itself and finally fishing operation was concluded, allowing us to depart to the south for our final day of operations.
