I          Long term changes on coral reefs

 

High biodiversity coral reefs are being degraded by human impact, especially in shallow waters.

 

 

II       Coral reefs in marginal environments

 

How do corals adapt to turbid waters and high sedimentation? Coral reefs are not confined to high light, blue water conditions.

 

 

III      Ecology of coral species

        

Coral species are not easily defined. How is the range of genetic relationships related to ecological characteristics such as distribution, reproduction and growth?

 

 

IV      Coral skeletons as treasure chambers of past environmental data

 

          Stable isotopes and other signals in coral skeletons are proxies for environmental data such as climate (change), salinity etc.
