MOVE (MObile VEhicle for benthic research)

At the moment NIOZ is developing a bottom vehicle for benthic research. Different from traditional lander technology several stations can now be covered.

Some characteristics:

·         Crawler

·         Designed to cover 30 stations

·         Max depth = 6.000 m

·         Max deployment period = 9 months

·         3-D parameter oriented engineering

3-D engineering model

The first shallow water sea-trials showed good results on maneuverability, energy consumption and stability on the seafloor.

The MOVE mounted in its

deployment-frame ready for sea-trials

Recovery of the MOVE after sea-trials

Presentations:

·         General info (in Dutch) can be downloaded as a standalone presentation (~5 MB)
