Research Interests

Top ^

Population dynamics with emphasis on factors controlling and regulating recruitment, whereby the focus is especially on predator-prey relationships. Another topic is the link between life history characteristics and ultimately recruitment level and recruitment variability of especially predatory species. Since life history such as reproductive output varies with latitude, species are studied over their range of distribution. Main focus is especially on flatfish and bivalve species in North Sea and estuarine Dutch Wadden Sea.

RECLAIM: REsolving CLimAtic IMpacts on fish stocks. The principal objectives of RECLAIM are:

·         to increase our understanding of the impacts of climate change on fish and shellfish populations by reviewing existing knowledge and conducting a variety of data analyses and modeling activities

·         to formulate hypotheses to be tested in future research programs
