Diary overview

After the Christmas festivities, work restarted at dawn with the anchors pulled up at 6 am.

We have started another survey of the canyon, which we hope to cross several times during the coming days in another zigzag pattern. Unfortunately there have been one or two headaches and these don't include the ones caused by the excesses of Christmas.

The seismic equipment was back in the water and running by 8:20 am, but there have been technical problems with the 'Sparker' and streamer which have reduced the quality of our data and these are proving difficult to fix onboard but for now at least; they do still function!

We crossed the canyon for the first during mid afternoon and at the time of writing (5 pm) we're about to start our second traverse, this time from the west. On a more positive note the weather has yet again been perfect for surveying, with only a gentle breeze on the flat sea and glorious sunshine, giving us some time to rest, and catch up with paper work while the crew have been hard at work doing maintenance.
