NIOZ cooperates with many other marine institutes and universities around the world in a number of international projects. The information on projects which NIOZ coordinates is given on the NIOZ web-site. MariculturePARC	The goal of MariculturePARC (Production And Research Centre) is to fill the gap between fundamental research on marine organisms (e.g. seaweeds, mussels, corals, salt tolerant vegetables, etc.) and full-scale production facilities. ZKO Waddenzee	Het NIOZ leidt twee onderzoeksprojecten en werkt mee aan zes andere projecten van het nationale onderzoeksprogramma ‘Zee- and Kustonderzoek’ (ZKO) van de Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (NWO)	-
ZKO Wadden Sea	NIOZ leads two projects and is partner in six other projects of the National Research Programme ‘Zee- en Kustonderzoek’ (Sea and Coastal Research) of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO)	-
Ballast water	The global transport of organisms via ships' ballast water is an important subject in studies of biodiversity. NIOZ is coordinating the EU-Interreg IVb project 'Ballast water opportunity' (2009-2013) for the North Sea Region. NIOZ is also a recognized test-site of the IMO for the land-based testing of the efficiency of organism removal by ballast water treatment installations designed to be used on board ships.
