Molecular Biology Laboratory

The Molecular Biology laboratory facilitates DNA and RNA genetic approaches to study marine organisms. Scientists from NIOZ as well as from other institutions and companies are welcome to cooperate or to join proposals.

We may develop diagnostic tools for specific research questions and offer assistance and advice how to:

  • sample for molecular biology analyses;
  • process samples for your specific research;
  • analyse sequences, (meta) genomes and transcriptomes;
  • analyse the results statistically

Facilities

For applying our techniques we have several laboratories and rooms available, such as:

  • Clean lab for preparing reagents
  • DNA extraction lab
  • RNA extraction lab
  • Cycler room
  • Post-PCR and electrophoresis laboratory
  • Cloning room of class ML-II
  • Computer room
